FourStroke range expanded with new 80 & 100hp models

Mercury FourStrokes have long led the pack in clean, quiet, fuel-efficient outboard power – and now the gap has grown even wider – with the addition of 80hp and 100hp models.

This means boat lovers in Australia and New Zealand now have the choice of 75, 80, 90, 100 and 115hp in the Mercury FourStroke mid-range family.

'By introducing these two new models we’re giving consumers the chance to get the right engine at the right price,' said Nicholas Webb, Mercury’s Director of Outboard Product (Australia, New Zealand, Pacific).

'And people will notice our pricing is the best value across the complete range as well.'

The two new models, based on the legendary Verado platform, are extremely reliable.

'Every 75 to 115hp Mercury FourStroke is built to deliver long-term reliable performance. Our fully filtered air intake protects internal engine components from potentially damaging dust and sand, while our advanced anti-drain-back oil system assures instant lubrication on start-up. In addition, the use of shared Verado components ensures the ultimate in mechanical toughness and reliability,' Nicholas said.

'For example, unlike many competitor four strokes, Mercury’s durable valve train stays maintenance-free for life, lowering cost of ownership and giving you more time in the water. This exclusive Double Overhead Cam (DOHC) valve train is a really robust design that is incredibly durable. It requires no multiple shims or trial-and-error adjustments, so it offers much greater reliability – for life.'

More fuel efficient than an equivalent two stroke engine, these FourStrokes are SmartCraft-capable.

Mercury’s exclusive SmartCraft engine management system adjusts your engine to perform at its best, while providing continuous information directly to the helm. SmartCraft provides you with a full picture of your fuel consumption, range, remaining fuel and much more at the push of a button. You can even link via a gateway with NMEA 2000-compatible devices.

A lot of manufacturers talk about their corrosion resistant outboards, but Mercury Marine is the only manufacturer which backs it up with an exclusive 3-year limited corrosion warranty.

Mercury FourStrokes enjoy powerful saltwater protection by incorporating more stainless steel components, hard anodizing, engineered polymers, and an exclusive multistep painting and coating process.

Of course, there’s a huge difference in the way different metals react to saltwater – the difference between years of boating fun or costly corrosion failures.

Mercury’s proprietary formula metal alloy – called XK-360 – is created at our own foundry in the U.S. It is an extremely low copper content aluminium alloy, and it leads the industry in corrosion resistance.

And that’s not all, because all Mercury Marine recreational outboards from the 300hp Verado to a 2.5hp TwoStroke come with a fully transferable 3+2=5 Year engine warranty which is backed by the strength and service expertise of one of the biggest dealer networks in the country.
