Honda Marine’s WA/NT Territory Manager John Gadellaa has retired after 50 years of service to the Australian marine industry.

Known as ‘The Man from Honda’ among much of the marine industry – and affectionately known as ‘Johnny G’ within Honda Australia – Mr Gadellaa has dedicated most of his working life to the company.

Joining WA’s Hemphill Honda as a trainee salesperson in 1963, selling Honda power equipment, he went on to become sales manager – and stayed with the business for the next 25 years.

After some time as managing director of engine distributor Bellstrike, he accepted a role with Honda Australia in the mid-1990s to expand WA’s dealer network for Honda motorcycles, power equipment and marine outboard engines.

Managing Honda’s high-performing marine dealer network throughout Western Australia, South Australia and the Northern Territory became a core focus up until his recent retirement.

Honda Australia director Robert Toscano said Mr Gadellaa’s commitment to and success with establishing the Honda brand had been invaluable.

'Johnny G won the respect of marine dealers all over the country, irrespective of what engine brand they supported,' Mr Toscano said.

'His contribution to the marine industry, through Honda Australia and as a long-serving member of the Boating Industry Association, will be missed.

'We thank Johnny G for his dedication and contribution to Honda Australia and wish him and his wife Hillary many years of well-earned relaxation.'
