Laser Midwinters - Canadians bullets on day 3 in Clearwater

At the Laser Midwinters, there were two races in 10 - 12 knots and fog in Clearwater yesterday. David Wright laid down a marker with a 1,2 and start closing in on runaway leaderClay Johnson (USA). The first race was Wright's from halfway up the first beat, and the chasing pack fought hard for the next places with Chris Dold squeezing out Juan Maegil (GUA) in the last few feet of the race.
The next race saw Dold and Rob Davis lead at the top, with Wright in hot pursuit. The three Canadians had a good jump on the rest of the fleet. They fought and diced, with Dold holding first place to the line to be greeted with silence, a jumped start on a black flag cost him the race, handing victory to Wright, and second to Davis. Overall Wright is now one point behind Johnson, with Davis in fourth, and the rest of the Canadian team holding down places six through 10.
Luke Ramsay has not wavered all weekend long by continuing to post bullets and is sits comfortably in the lead followed by Canadian Sandy Beatty in fourth and Brenda Bowskill in seventh. This event also serves as a Canadian qualifier for Youth Worlds as age eligible sailors are in a close battle for the individual Laser and Radial berths.
