Sailing for the Youth of Lake Macquarie and Region

by Ross Wylde-Browne on 19 Feb 2013
Close Racing in the Youthsail Lake Mac Regatta 2012 - Centennial Coal Youthsail Lake Mac 2013 Ross Wylde-Browne
Centennial Coal are again sponsoring the second Youthsail Lake Mac regatta on Sunday the 10th of March 2013 for young sailors from the Lake Macquarie region under 19 years of age at the 31st December 2013. Youth sailors are invited to enter the regatta, a two race event commencing at 11am from the Wangi RSL Amateur Sailing Club. A race briefing will be held at 10am.

There will be three divisions of boats covering Junior, Intermediate and Senior classes of dinghies and off the beach catamarans, giving the young sailors exposure to sailing in a large fleet, an experience they do not often get in local club sailing, which will help them when they compete in State and National titles for the first time.

The generous sponsorship from Centennial Coal for this event will enable the entry fee for competitors to be kept to $15.00 per boat.

This will be a full weekend for the young sailors of Lake Macquarie hosted by the Wangi RSL Amateur Sailing Club with a Sabot Development camp also being run in conjunction with the Northern NSW Sabot Sailing Association. This regatta will give the young Sabot sailors an opportunity to apply the skills and theory gained over the weekend to racing in a large fleet environment.

The Notice of Race for the Centennial Coal Youthsail Lake Mac regatta and full details for the Sabot Development Camp can be found on the Wangi Sailing Club website under the Regattas menu.
