Oracle Team USA have announced that Yanmar has been selected as Official Technical Partner. Yanmar, a Japanese company with an intimate knowledge of the world’s oceans, will provide engines for Oracle Team USA’s chase boats during the bid to defend the 34th America’s Cup this September.

Yanmar President Takehito Yamaoka gave his full backing to the partnership, saying: 'We are fully committed to supporting Oracle USA in their bid to win the 34th America’s Cup. Yanmar is proud to become the Official Technical Partner for Oracle Team USA. It is a natural partnership in such a technically demanding field as high performance sailing. We believe their high standards and dedication to perfection complements the way Yanmar operates.'

Through the partnership, Yanmar will provide reliable power for Oracle Team USA’s chase boat program based in San Francisco. The team operates a fleet of chase boats which serves to assist all aspects of the program, from launching the racing yachts to on-water safety. As the team’s AC72 yachts can reach speeds of up to 40 knots, the Yanmar engines will allow the chase boats to maintain the power, agility and endurance required to support the yachts through the variable conditions on the San Francisco Bay.

'We are very excited to partner with Yanmar for this 34th America's Cup campaign,' said Oracle Team USA CEO Russell Coutts. 'Yanmar is recognized world-wide for their tremendous expertise in marine engines and technology. It is their precision engineering that will power our chase boats, allowing us to perform the many critical functions required both throughout training and on race day. Yanmar provides a vital component to our program, and it is fantastic to have them onboard.'

Yanmar, one of the world’s leading engine manufacturing companies, has an extensive product range that includes engines, drive systems and accessories for all types of boats. The company entered the powerboat engine market in 1989 and has steadily increased its presence as a manufacturer of high performance, high quality engines. Yanmar has an extensive product lineup that includes a wide range of marine engines.
