The 2013 Annapolis to Newport Notice of Race is now available and has been posted on the event website. Online entry is open is also open. Enter by 1 May to avoid the late fee. There will be racing in IRC, IRC Double-Handed, PHRF and PHRF Cruising Divisions.

The cruising division offers a place for the traditional racer-cruiser and cruising type boats to join the race competing against similar boats and not having to compete against the light weight, big sail area race boats. Limits on sail area compared to displacement and displacement compared to length are used to define the division. Click here for more information on the cruising division.

Chelsea Clock has generously provided a new trophy, the Chelsea Clock Seafarer Trophy to be awarded for the best combined finishes in the 2013 Annapolis-Newport Race in each Division and the 2012 Newport-Bermuda Race. They also provide the Chelsea Clock Mariner Trophy for the best combined finishes in the 2013 Annapolis-Newport and 2013 Marblehead-Halifax races. In 2014 the Newport-Bermuda Race will offer trophies for the best combined finishes in the 2013 Annapolis-Newport and 2014 Newport Bermuda races.

Another competition within the race is the Yacht Club Challenge. In the last race, twelve three-boat teams competed for the City of Annapolis Trophy. They represented the Annapolis Yacht Club, New York Yacht Club, Tred Avon Yacht Club, Storm Trysail Club, Naval Academy Sailing Squadron, Naval Academy Offshore Sailing Team, Corinthian Yacht Club of Philadelphia and Norddeutscher Regatta Club from Germany.

Each boat will again carry a Yellowbrick GPS tracker. The tracker will provide updates every thirty minutes with higher update frequency at key points. This will not only provide shore bound followers a near real time view of the race, but also permit trophies for first out of the Bay in each class.

The Category 2 Offshore Regulations including the US Sailing and Annapolis-Newport prescriptions are posted on the event website. One of the requirements is Safety at Sea training. The training session at the Naval Academy is scheduled for April 6th. Click here for the full Safety at Sea Seminar calendar.

Gathering signed waivers for all crew members has been something of a pain for many skippers. This year there will be an online waiver form so all a skipper will need to do is email the URL to each crew member for them to fill out the online form.

Sail the race and be in Newport in time for the New York Yacht Club 159th Annual Regatta presented by Rolex on June 14 - 16 and Storm Trysail Block Island Race Week June 23 – Click here for the Notice of Race.
