34th Nacra Australian Championships - Postcard sailing on day 3

by Nacra Australia on 3 Jan 2013

The third day of sailing at the Nacra Nationals was a stark contrast to the conditions earlier in the week with light and puffy conditions. With one session of racing held for the day three races were held back to back. The change in conditions and the fact that a drop has now come into the scoring equation, has meant that results have tightened in almost all fleets.

Now leading the Nacra F18 Infusion class is Adam Beattie on 14 points with both Mick Guinea and Mal Richardson on 15 points. Warren Guinea is also close behind in forth on 17 points.

In the Nacra 5.8s, Scott Sandilands struggled in the lighter conditions handing the lead over to Shane Russell on 14 points with Sandilands in second on 16 points. Matt Caldwell and Bruce Potter are still placed third on 17 points.

Geoff Horsley still leads the Nacra 16sq fleet on 13 points. Jared Potter is in second six points behind Horsley, with Corey Holden one point behind Potter.

In the Nacra 4.5s Richard Cullum is on eight points, only one point clear of Phil Robins in second. Cullum and Robins are well clear of third place Dave Bowler on 20 points.

Wednesday evening is the Beach Party hosted by Hervey Bay Sailing Club. Racing in continues in an afternoon session on Thursday and a final morning session on Friday.
