Invite a friend - win a sailing holiday to Turkey

by Michelle Kearney on 22 Dec 2012
Sailing in Turkey - it could be you down there! SW
Yachting Australia and Mariner Boating Holidays are giving Sailing Club members across the country the chance to win a sailing holiday for two to explore Turkey on the Lycian Coast Yacht Rally in September 2013.

The 'Member get Member' promotion is designed to engage club members to increase Club memberships, a key element of Yachting Australia’s Discover Sailing participation program.

The aim is to motivate current members to invite a friend, family member or colleague to the Club and become new members, entitling them an entry. Only people who have signed up new members to a Club will be eligible to enter as many times as the number of people they sign up.

Discover Sailing, Yachting Australia’s new participation program, has been developed following extensive market research to get more people involved in sailing and increase club memberships, by providing Clubs with guidelines, marketing tools and promotional initiatives.

'This is a terrific opportunity and incentive for people who are already involved in sailing to share their love of the sport with others and demonstrate that sailing is fun, friendly, accessible and affordable to all,' said Ross Kilborn, Yachting Australia Sport Development Director. 'We’d like to thank Mariner Boating Holidays for joining our passion to further grow sailing as a sport in Australia.'

Mariner Boating Holidays General Manager Chris MacLeod said that they were looking forward to giving a lucky winner the opportunity to explore Turkey by boat.

'We’re delighted to be part of growing and promoting sailing as a safe and fun sport for people of all ages and abilities,' said MacLeod. 'What better way is there to experience the joys of sailing than on a sailing holiday exploring the coast of Turkey.'

The Discover Sailing website, www.discoversailing.org.au has been designed for people new to sailing and incorporates non-technical explanations and several videos about how to get into sailing and what Clubs offer.

Yachting Australia has also updated its own website, www.yachting.org.au, under the Education and Training sections, along with a new Participation area, providing details of the Discover Sailing Program to club officials and people currently involved in sailing.
