Snipe Western Hemisphere and Orient Championship - No racing on day 3

by Jerelyn Biehl on 24 Nov 2012
2012 Snipe Western Hemisphere and Orient Championship Jorge Cousillas – El Ojo Nautico
It was the calm after yesterday’s storm that kept the fleet of the Snipe Western Hemisphere and Orient Championship from sailing on Mar del Plata. Despite a great attempt of the Race Committee, four hours on the water proved unsuccessful. One race was attempted in 6-7 knots but abandoned at the first leeward mark due to shifting conditions too extreme for a fair competition. Then the wind completely died and the day was called.

The regatta will continue tomorrow with hopes for a possible three races. Three more can be sailed on the final day (Sunday) to determine the Western Hemisphere and Orient champions who earn an automatic berth into the 2014 Worlds to be held in Rio de Janeiro next September.
