The organizing committee of the Annapolis to Bermuda Ocean Race (A2B) is pleased to announce that registration for the 2026 edition of this iconic offshore sailing event sponsored by Mustang Survival is officially open!
First held in 1979, the A2B covers 753 nautical miles from the heart of the Chesapeake Bay to the island paradise of Bermuda, making it one of the longest and most challenging ocean races on the U.S. East Coast.
Held biennially, A2B has become a premier event for sailors pursuing the thrill of blue water racing. The course offers a unique blend of inshore and offshore challenges, beginning with tactical sailing down the Chesapeake Bay, followed by a demanding ocean leg across the Gulf Stream to Bermuda's legendary pink sand beaches. The next A2B edition starts in Annapolis, Maryland on June 5, 2026.
"The Annapolis to Bermuda Ocean Race is more than a competition: it's a rite of passage," said Bert Bossar, Chair of the A2B Race Organization Committee. "In every edition, sailors fulfill a lifelong ambition of navigating to Bermuda under sail. Whether it's a seasoned crew or a cruiser trying offshore racing for the first time, A2B provides the opportunity for safe, supported adventure and friendly competition in equal measure."
The 2026 edition race is proudly presented once again with the support of title sponsor Mustang Survival, a leader in marine safety innovation.
"At Mustang Survival, our mission is to protect and enhance the lives of those who work and play on the water," said Lili Colby, spokesperson for Mustang Survival. "The Annapolis to Bermuda Ocean Race exemplifies the spirit of adventure and the importance of safety at sea. We're proud to support an event that challenges sailors in one of the harshest and most beautiful marine environments, while reinforcing the value of preparation, performance, and trust in your gear."
The race would not be possible without the continued partnership and hospitality of its two host clubs: Eastport Yacht Club (EYC) in Annapolis and the Royal Hamilton Amateur Dinghy Club (the Dinghy Club) in Bermuda. EYC provides a dynamic waterfront base for the pre-race start, welcoming sailors and their families with a vibrant racing community and excellent facilities. The Dinghy Club, one of Bermuda's most storied yacht clubs, offers a warm island welcome, world-class post-race events, and a fitting celebration for crews who complete the demanding offshore passage.
A defining mission of the 2026 Mustang Survival Annapolis to Bermuda Race is to promote the art and discipline of marine navigation. With an emphasis on safety, seamanship, and preparation, the race continues to attract both experienced offshore racers and sailors new to ocean racing. Since its inception, more than 600 yachts and thousands ofsailors have taken on the physical and mental challenge of this demanding course, experiencing the full spectrum of offshore sailing, from serene night watches to the boisterous power of the Gulf Stream.
Skippers from across the East Coast and beyond are encouraged to mark their calendars and prepare for this unforgettable journey: the next A2B edition begins June 5, 2026.
The A2B organizers and Mustang Survival are co-hosting a number of events to help inform and prepare sailors ahead of the 2026 race, including a Safety & Boat Preparation Seminar to be hosted at the Eastport Yacht Club on November 15, 2025.
