NRV Champions Week 2012 - On Saturday, September 2, 2012, the 5.5m IC sailors took part in the Palm Mountain Guest Race after finishing their Hankø Evolution Cup, Royal Kaag Classic Cup and Scandinavian Gold Cup races of the day. They briefly returned to shore and picked up a guest sailor. The Pungin under Hans-Peter Schmid (SUI 213) took the line honors.

'It was really a coincidence we even took part. We heard another Swiss boat could not participate because of some damage and so we jumped in at the last minute, 'says the skipper. The Pungin was the last ship to leave the harbor and did not manage to find the ideal position at the starting line. But knowledge of the race area, where Schmid won the German Championship in 2008, proved to be give them an advantage over the rest of the fleet. At the first mark they had already pushed ahead of everyone else and kept that position until the finish firmly.

After the regatta the sailors and their guests relaxed together at the prize giving event on the pontoon. The first three crews won red sports bags from Marinepool while Kaspar Stubenrauch's crew, who were the last to finish, received a consolation prize in the shape of a bottle of gin.

Later the White Wiek hosted the Palmberg Champions Dinner with a big barbecue for the sailors. Andreas Hundsdörfer, who runs the marina at Bolton as the CEO of the Sea-Site Ltd, presented the NRV Cup Champions Week. The glass and stainless steel perpetual trophy is awarded to the sailor who racks up the most first places during that year's NRV Champions Week. 'Every year we have exciting and fast boat classes racing at this venue right in front of the White Wiek. I'm happy that the NRV Champions Week has established itself so well over the past four years ', says dog villages, a self-Described fan of the modern 5.5 Metre class.

Race officer Hans-Herbert Hoffmann lead through the daily prize giving before the buffet was opened. The best results of the day went to Matti Muoniovaara's My Shout (AUS 82) for the evolution Hankø Cup who scored two first places and the Blue Print (GER 33). Under Lutz of Meyerinck So who won both the Royal Kaag Classic Cup races Johan Gullichsen's Addam4 (FIN 49) won the last two races of the Scandinavian Gold Cup and will be presented the coveted golden trophy at tomorrow's official prize giving ceremony.

Frank Schoenfeldt's Henk (GER 5412) Achieved the best results of the day in the J/24 class, scoring two firsts and a ninth place. Overall they move up into second place, six points behind the Rotoman under Kai Mares (GER 5420). 'We always go to the weight in check all of our clothes and even then there are 15 pounds left before we reach maximum crew weight. That's why light winds suit us ', explains the skipper. His results prove his words true and he announces his intent to beat Rotoman: 'We always sail for fun and are never worried about results, but we will not give up without a fight.'

The J/24 class will declare the winner of their German Open tomorrow, while the 5.5 meter class is finishing up the Hankø Evolution Cup and Royal Kaag Classic Cup. Starting on Tuesday, September 10, 2012, formerly the Olympic three to keel boats will compete in their World Championship, also in Bolton. Norddeutscher Regatta Verein website
