The Copa del Rey MAPFRE continues to exceed expectations — and this year, it's doing so well in advance.

With two months still to go before the first warning signal, the prestigious regatta has already surpassed the 100-boat mark, reaffirming its status as one of the premier sailing events in Europe. The 43rd edition is shaping up to be one of the most remarkable yet, as it coincides with the ORC European Championship — a class that has been the backbone of the event since its inception 44 years ago.

All four ORC divisions are showing strong numbers, both in quantity and quality, setting the stage for an intense battle for the podium. Meanwhile, the one-design fleets — ClubSwan 50 and ClubSwan 42 — still have room to grow, as does the Women's Cup, which is close to reaching ten registered teams.

With these figures, everything indicates that before the official entry deadline on May 30th for the ClubSwan 50 and 42 classes and June 15th for the rest, the 43rd Copa del Rey MAPFRE will reach, and even surpass,120 teams.

Manu Fraga, General Manager of the Real Club Náutico de Palma, expressed his satisfaction with the strong pace of entries: "There's no doubt this will be a special edition of the Copa del Rey MAPFRE. This year, we're hosting the ORC European Championship, the most representative and competitive class in the event, which adds a high level of sporting prestige and symbolic value."

A festive atmosphere on shore

Between the final week of July and the first days of August, a vibrant atmosphere is expected both on the water and onshore. Over 1,500 sailors, along with their support teams, families, sponsors, guests, and accredited media, will bring Palma Bay to life. The Real Club Náutico de Palma will be at the heart of the action, with bustling docks and city streets infused with the spirit of competitive sailing before and after racing each day.

Fraga also highlighted other positive indicators: "We're seeing high demand for spectator boats to follow the racing on the water, and there's strong interest in the week's social program, especially for the traditional White Party dinner, which will take place on Thursday, July 31st, at the club."

The RCNP director concluded with a look at the weeks ahead: "The next two months will be intense as we prepare every detail of the event. Our goal is to make this edition one of the most memorable in the history of the Copa del Rey MAPFRE."
