Yachting Australia is pleased to announce that luxury carmaker, Audi, will continue its support of the IRC Australian Championship. The agreement is for an additional two years until 2014.

Audi has been a long-time supporter of sailing in Australia and the new agreement with Yachting Australia will see the German premium brand continue as naming rights sponsor of the Audi IRC Australian Championship for 2013 and 2014.

The 2013 Audi IRC Australian Championship will be determined at the Festival of Sails, held at the Royal Geelong Yacht Club, between 24 – 28 January, 2013.

The 2014 Championship will be held in NSW with Yachting Australia to work with interested Yacht Clubs in the coming months to determine a host club and venue.

'Yachting Australia is delighted that Audi Australia is continuing its successful association with the IRC Australian Championship,' said Yachting Australia CEO, Phil Jones.

'The structure of a single event moving between states is in line with feedback from owners from across the country and we look forward to an increase in support of the Championship over the next few years,' he said. Audi’s managing director, Uwe Hagen, said the company is keen to continue its association with the championship and to ensure that its support of the sailing community is comprehensive and diverse.

'We are pleased to support the Audi IRC Australian Championship for 2013 and 2014 as part of our sailing sport sponsorship. We believe it’s a critical part of the competitive Australian sailing landscape and an important challenge for Australia’s best sailors,' Mr Hagen said.

Audi’s continued support of the IRC Australian Championship complements the company’s involvement as a major co-sponsor of the Australian Sailing Team and a corporate partner of Yachting Australia.
