The University of London Sailing Club greeted 15 other teams at the Welsh Harp in Wembley on Saturday for the Duck 2007.

Saturday's weather was perfect, with 8-12 knots of breeze and sunshine, we were even lucky enough for the only squall of the day to pass to the south of the Lake.

There were two round robin leagues of 8 being held on the Saturday with the top 4 in each advancing into a gold league for the following day. The first league was won by and undefeated West Kirby Hawks Team, followed by Southampton 1 in second. The second league was won by Society, with Oxford 1 in second. Castaways, Nottingham, Southampton 2, and Bristol 1 made up the following places in the Gold league for the Sunday.

Sunday greeted the sailors with the complete opposite conditions, with 12-15 knots of breeze and rain for most of the day. Despite this racing got away on time. After the completion of the round robin, semi-finals were held between West Kirby Hawks and Southampton 1, who had come through a playoff with the winner of the silver league, Exeter 1. The Hawks advanced to the final 2-0, and looking very strong. The second semi-final was a lot tighter with Society defeating Oxford 1, 2-1, with the deciding race being won right on the finish line.

The Final went the way of Society who dished out the Hawks' only losses of the weekend, and took the final 2-0, with two 1,2 combinations.

My thanks goes to all the helpers, especially the Umpires, the PRO, the finish boat ladies, those from the University who helped out. See you all in 2008!
