Telefónica MoviStar becomes the first IMS 600 World Champion
- Siemens Mobile could not put up with Pedro Campos's pressure
- Zorongo was the best Corinthian and Starfisher de best First 40.7
This last day of racing promised to be intense with the struggle among Telefónica MoviStar and Siemens Mobile, both with possibilities of reaching the title of IMS 600 World Champion, which was organised by Monte Real Club Yates and sponsored by Xunta de Galicia, Spanair and Slam.
As with the previous days, the lack of wind was again the protagonist, and when finally the first windward/leeward started, it was abandoned one hour later due to a 90º wind shift. At about 1500 the first race of the day finally started and got to an end with no problem, with Pedro Campos from Telefónica MoviStar leading all the time, and the most important for him: Siemens Mobile was on the rear on the race getting finally a 4th position.
A second windward/leeward was raced to get the last necessary points to achieve the final 6.5, enough to get the Worlds validated by ISAF.
No changes in this last windward/leeward, Pedro Campos was leading the race again, in despite of the best race of Siemens Mobile, getting a second place on the race, but not enough to win de Worlds, won by Pedro Campos and Telefónica MoviStar, and being the eighth on his records.
