WASZP Class and Federazione Italiana Vela (FIV) - the Italian Sailing Federation, are thrilled to announce that the next WASZP Games in 2027 will be returning to Lake Garda - the world's most spectacular foiling venue.

Scheduled for a window commencing in late June 2027 with the perfect foiling conditions offered by the North of the Lake, this will be a massive celebration with a fleet over 300 anticipated.

With WASZPs sailed in more than 30 countries, the competitor list for the 2027 WASZP Games will be truly global, making it thelargest dinghy foiling event ever staged by any class and surpassing the 247 sailors who competed at the 2025 WASZP Games in Weymouth, UK.

Racing will be hosted by FIV in collaboration with Consorzio Garda Trentino Vela, a consortium including Circolo Vela Arco,Circolo Vela Torbole, Circolo Surf Torbole and Lega Navale PortoSan Nicolò who collaborate closely for on-water and shoreside delivery.

To ensure the best possible racing and event experience for all competitors, the program will be delivered in two distinct parts.

For the first time, Junior (5.8 & 6.9) and Masters sailors will enjoy their own dedicated championship experience, with separate fleet racing and social events scheduled in Block One from 27 June to 1 July.

Block Two, running from 2 to 7 July, will feature dedicated Open Championship racing across multiple formats for the 7.5 and 8.2 fleets, culminating in the crowning of the 2027 WASZP Games Champions. Youth and other divisional champions will also be recognised and celebrated.

Planned as a festival to recognise our sailors both on and off the water it will highlight the Class culture - fast, fearless fun under the spectacular backdrop of soaring cliffs and villages of the region.

For WASZP it will be the 10th anniversary of the first WASZP Games which were held at Lake Garda, in 2017 and returning will be a fantastic homecoming for the Class.

For FIV it will be part of a year of celebration and a showcase event to recognise the incredible 100th year milestone from its foundation in 1927.

The collaboration with FIV reflects a shared ambition to deliver a world-class edition of the WASZP Games, while continuing to expand participation and progression in foiling.

This is also the result of the collaboration that has existed since the beginning with the Italian WASZP Class and a shared vision of a youth development program in the world of foiling.

FIV President Francesco Ettorre said: "Hosting the 2027 WASZP Games on Lake Garda in the year of FIV's centenary is a source of great pride. This event reflects the Federation's commitment to new generations, innovation and foiling, and confirms Italy's ability to welcome the international sailing community with technical expertise, passion and collaboration across clubs and territories."

WASZP designer Andrew McDougall shared his enthusiasm for the relationship; "We were really born here in Garda, so to come back for this occasion is fantastic. The support shown by FIV to run this event for us shows a true shared commitment - an event of this scale could not happen without their full support".

From the very beginning, FIV has established itself as a global leader in foiling training and racing opportunities. Innovative projects such as the FIV FOIL ACADEMY powered by LUNA ROSSA, a cutting-edge vision and attention to emerging realities, have distinguished FIV's work since the beginning.

Garda is an iconic bucket list sailing and holiday location - a perfect arena for one-design foiling and the ideal location for FIV & WASZP to celebrate.

Further announcements will follow shortly including opening of the Priority List registration.
