As we transition into a new season, it's the perfect time to reflect on our 2026 RS Feva World Championship, which was part of the RS Games.

Day 0 (Opening Ceremony):

With all our families arrived in Travemünde, Germany, it was time for the RS Feva Opening Ceremony.

The sailors and their families gathered at the RS Hub on Priwall Strand with excitement. The sailors eagerly formed animated country groups that grew more enthusiastic with each passing moment with the country flags flying proudly.

With 17 countries taking part in the 2026 RS Feva World Championships everyone made their way over to the Opening Stage at the Passathafen.

As the sailors arrived they were welcomed by Andreas Kling from Travemünder Woche and Michiel Geerling the Commercial Director of RS Sailing. who hosted the Opening Ceremony. Each country was invited up onto the stage to proudly wave their flags, with a massive 'mexican wave' cheering through the 284 sailors, and their families and supporters, to finish.

Day 1:

The day began with poor visibility, however it quickly improved! At noon, sailors listened to their competitor briefing and began preparing to set sail.

All flights successfully completed one race in some challenging conditions and waves on the race course. With winds of 18-23 knots and gusts up to 26 knots. Sailors came to shore and enjoyed the rest of the day with family and friends.

With three firsts claimed within the fleets these were; Edoardo Bastini & Samuele Bardelli (ITA), family boat Elin Haavel & Ants Haavel (EST) and Charlotte de Groot & Sven van Dartel (NED).

Day 2:

With flight re-assigned sailors prepared their ribbons, RS Feva sailors were ready for long day of racing, with four races planned. Some black flags appeared on the starts, and the wind soften in the middle of the racing. Despite this four races were completed, making five in total at the end of the qualifying series.

At the top of the leaderboard were Cassius Day & Harry O'Callaghan (GBR) taking four bullets out of five! Edoardo Bastini & Samuele Bardelli (ITA) claimed three bullets in the qualifying series and another two boats took 2 firsts; the RS Fevas were sailed by leading female teams Elle Marie Kangur & Marleen Poolamets (EST) and Rachel Elms & Laura Jubb (GBR).

Exciting results lead to the question: 'what will happen next in the final series?'

Day 3:

Sailors were now assigned in Gold, Silver and Bronze fleets. Cassius Day & Harry O'Callaghan (GBR) held strong claiming two firsts and a fourth, with Elle Marie Kangur & Marleen Poolamets (EST) winning Race 3 of the final series.

After three races AP over A flew and the sailors made their way back to shore.

That evening the sailors were entertained on the Passat tall ship for their VIP evening of food and drinks. This historic vessel, with its towering masts and elegant rigging, provided a unique and enchanting setting for a great memory of the event.

Day 4:

The first start of the day was clear for all fleets, followed by a couple of black flags. Dan Chladek & Krystof Danek (CZE) won race four of the final series, with Elle Marie Kangur & Marleen Poolamets (EST) claiming a bullet on Race 5. Race 6 was won by Edoardo Bastini & Samuele Bardelli (ITA).

After racing, some sailors stayed in kit to sail in the Trave Races - a daily highlight of Travemünder Woche of short, sharp stadium racing in the river, up close to the festival promenades. Teams from Israel and Great Britain took part showcasing the RS Feva to spectators on the shore.

The RS Beach Party followed that evening - with sailors from all RS Classes at the RS Games attending. With the sun shining everyone enjoyed the evening celebrating being part of the RS Feva World Championships and the RS Games as a whole. The party was filled with laughter and the joyful chatter of sailors and their families enjoyed food, drinks, music and dancing.

Day 5:

Sailors launched to complete the final races in the championships. The sky was grey holding enough wind to complete two more races for the Gold, Silver and Bronze fleets. The day was dominated by the Italians, claiming two firsts and a second place.

Race 7 saw Edoardo Bastini & Samuele Bardelli (ITA) crossing the line first once again. The sailors were truly competing for podium positions.

Race 8, the last race of the championships, was won by Lorenzo Caio Beretta & Lorenzo Anta (ITA) pleased to claim a first at the Worlds.

Our new RS Feva World Champions, Cassius Day & Harry O'Callaghan (GBR), flew their Union Jack flag while sailing home to be greeted by family and friends.

As the prize-giving ceremony approached, the RS Hub on Priwall Beach was bustling with sailors and families eagerly anticipating the final part of the RS Feva World Championships. This cherished ceremony allowed sailors to celebrate and cheer for the friends they made throughout the competition.

The time had come, it was the last day of the RS Games which meant the remaining RS classes shared their prize-giving ceremony altogether. Last but not least came the RS Fevas. Sailors, families, and organisers cheered and applauded the sailors for the achievements throughout the championships. We saw eight countries celebrated with country flags and plenty of podium 'fizz' sprays, brings a smile to all our faces.

A massive congratulations to Cassius Day & Harry O'Callaghan - crowned the new RS Feva World Champions for 2026! I've been lucky enough to see these two sailors grow in the class and their determination has shown throughout; well-deserved World Champions.

The RS Feva International Class would like to thank everyone involved in this year's World Championship; from the race officer and the race team on the water, to the volunteers on shore and everyone at Travemünder Woche. Thank you to RS Sailing for welcoming the RS Feva World Championship as part of the RS Games 2026. Thanks goes to Digital Sailing for capturing memories on the water. Also to all the coaches and parents for travelling to the event and of course the sailors. Thank you for being a part of the 2026 Worlds.

If you are starting to think about your adventures next year, our 2027 World Championship will be held at Circolo Vela Arco, Lake Garda, Italy, 23-27 July, back-to-back with the RS Tera World Championship.

Until we meet again, keep the wind in your sails and your spirit high.
