Scheidt retakes the lead from Dal Ri as light conditions test the fleet on day four
Four points separate Brazil's Erik Scheidt and Francisco Dal Ri at the top of the 2026 ILCA 6 Men's World Championship after the fourth day of racing in Vilamoura, setting up a close contest with two days of racing remaining.
Scheidt moved into the overall lead with 12 net points, with Dal Ri second with 16. Spain's Alberto Medel Castrillón is third with 38 points.
The change at the top continues a closely contested championship between the two Brazilians. Scheidt led after the opening day, before Dal Ri moved ahead on day two and retained the lead through the third day of competition.
Day four brought the lightest conditions of the championship so far. Racing took place in a steady breeze from approximately 040 degrees at 6-7 knots, with flat water and no significant swell. Rain arrived towards the end of the day.
Behind the leading pair, Medel Castrillón moved into third overall on 38 points. Croatia's Toma Smircic is fourth with 45 points, followed by compatriot Bepo Duplancic in fifth on 57.
Portugal's Kuzey Karis climbed to sixth overall with 59 points, just two points outside the top five. Italy's Lorenzo Ghirotti is seventh on 72 points, one ahead of Ireland's Conor Cronin in eighth.
Charalampos Veliantis of Hong Kong holds ninth place with 87 points, while Greece's Vassilis Koukoudis completes the top 10 on 92. With two days still to race, the four-point margin at the top leaves Scheidt and Dal Ri closely matched as the championship enters its final phase. Racing continues on 1 October before the championship concludes on 2 October.
