Solberg is in the lead, but Golison is just one point behind. Heaton sits four points off the top, and the title race is going down to the wire.
The 2026 J/70 World Championship is heading for a dramatic finale, with just four points separating the top three boats after a crucial penultimate day of racing in Cascais. Brazil's Haroldo Solberg remains at the top of the leaderboard, but his advantage has been cut to just one point.
Hot on his heels is American Bruce Golison, who delivered the performance of the day with a perfect score, winning both races.
In third place is fellow American John Heaton, only four points behind Solberg. Heaton's team also has a strong Portuguese presence, with Gonçalo Ribeiro and Paulo Manso on board, ensuring that local interest remains firmly embedded in the fight for the championship.
The Portuguese fleet is led by Tiago Morais, the reigning Portuguese national champion. He climbed to 12th place overall with 147 points. Just two points behind him is compatriot Diogo Ribeiro, who is currently in 13th place with 149 points.
The stage is now set for the final act in Cascais. Solberg has the lead; Golison has the momentum, and Heaton remains within striking distance. Just four points separate from the top three, so the J/70 World Championship is still wide open.
