Registration is now open for the inaugural International VX One Class World Championship, which will bring the world’s best VX One sailors to Miami, Florida, from 5 to 10 April 2027.

Hosted by Shake-A-Leg Miami in Coconut Grove, the championship marks a major milestone for the international class and will bring together VX One teams from across the globe for four days of world championship racing on Biscayne Bay.

“The VX One International Class is proud to create an event that will unite our global VX One sailing community, showcase the exceptional racing the VX One is known for, and establish a benchmark for World Championships for many years to come,” says Jeff Eiber, VX One International Class President. “These boats are just the best!”

The championship will cap an exceptional 10-day Miami racing window for the class, with teams able to compete in the Bacardi Invitational Regatta before moving directly into the Worlds programme.

The VX One fleet will join the J/70, Melges 24 and Snipe classes for three days of racing and Bacardi’s famous shoreside hospitality before teams turn their attention to the inaugural world title.

The schedule provides an ideal lead-in to the championship, giving international and local teams the opportunity to race, train and fine-tune on the Worlds racecourse immediately before the main event.

Official registration and measurement for the VX One World Championship will begin on Monday 5 April, followed by a practice race and welcome function on Tuesday 6 April.

World championship racing will take place from Wednesday 7 April through to Saturday 10 April, when the inaugural VX One World Champions will be crowned.

Coconut Grove in Miami is recognised as one of North America’s premier sailing destinations, offering warm water, reliable breeze and the world-class sailing infrastructure of Biscayne Bay.

“Miami is the mecca of winter sailing in the United States. Period. The conditions are incredible, the venue is world-class and Coconut Grove has everything you could possibly want, from great restaurants and nightlife to an unbeatable social scene. It is the complete package. You have the talent, the conditions and the destination. There is simply nowhere better to be,” said Tim Pitts, VX One USA Class President.

“We have deliberately scheduled the World Championship directly after the Bacardi Invitational Regatta, one of the biggest and best events on our calendar every year. We are expecting between 55 and 65 boats at both events, making this an extraordinary 10 days in Miami, with seven days of seriously competitive racing.

“If you love VX One racing, this is the trip you have to make. Come to Miami, race against the best, enjoy everything Coconut Grove has to offer and be part of the first-ever VX One World Championship. I can promise you, nobody is going home disappointed.”

The full event schedule, accommodation information, charter enquiries and competitor updates are available on the official 2027 VX One World Championship website.
