Nacra 15 World Championship 2026 at Plymouth, UK - Day 2

by Plym Yacht Club 30 Jul 09:50 PDT 26 July - 1 August 2026

A short postponement ashore rewarded the Nacra 15 fleet with the best possible conditions in Plymouth. Sunshine and winds up to 20 knots south of Plymouth breakwater enabled RO David Rollinson to get five races in, bringing the regatta up to only one race behind schedule.

The fleet were incredibly pushy on the earlier starts, meaning all races were run under black flag, catching several boats out, but the top of the fleet are beginning to show their consistency and break away from the pack.

Alessandro Vargiu and Noa Lisci are leading, with two seconds today, 10 points ahead of Mattia Di Martino and Nina Cittar, while the US team of Tomko and Small are in third with some consistent top ten results.

Marcus King of GBR 378 said, "It was close racing with plenty of gains and loses to be had!", while the regatta leader ITA 393 Alessandro Vargiu described the day as: "tricky weather conditions, light winds and plenty of current - but we're pleased with our performance so far".

Five more races are planned tomorrow as we reach the halfway point.
