Sailors from across the region will gather July 31-Aug 1, 2026, for the 53rd Annual Governor's Cup Yacht Race presented by PNC Bank, the oldest and longest overnight race on the Chesapeake Bay.

The beloved event will once again bring together competitors, alumni, families and waterfront enthusiasts for a weekend of racing and community celebration.

The Governor's Cup features a race from Annapolis to St. Mary's College of Maryland in St. Mary's City, connecting the state's current capital with its first capital. A Potomac Leg of the race will also be offered this year, beginning in Dahlgren, Virginia. Race registration closes Sunday, July 26 at 11:59 p.m.

The weekend kicks off Friday with a launch celebration for alumni and supporters at the Annapolis Maritime Museum & Park from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Festivities continue Saturday at the St. Mary's College waterfront, where visitors can enjoy live music throughout the day, a variety of local food trucks, race arrivals, and post-race activities, culminating in the awards ceremony. The evening will conclude with a waterfront luau featuring authentic Hawaiian food, hula dancers, and a Polynesian fire dancer performance. Advance tickets are available for $50 per person.

As title sponsor, PNC Bank is proud to support an event that showcases teamwork, perseverance and the enduring traditions that make the Chesapeake Bay region unique.
