If the energy and confidence emanating from crew of the Women Racing team at their title partner announcement today was anything to go by, they look set to shine in New York this September.
One of two Australian teams invited to race at the inaugural New York Yacht Club Women’s International Championships, the team put another vital piece in their support network today, introducing Shaw and Partners Financial Services as their title partner.
To be raced in 20 identical one design ILC 37s (the successor to the NYYC’s popular Club Swan 42) over 5 days in September, the championship has attracted 20 topflight women skippers and crews from 14 nations.
Returning this morning from an early training session on the Melges ILC 37, Mittere, (generously loaned to both teams by Scott Lawson and David Ferguson for training purposes over recent months) the RPAYC team and title partner were introduced before handing over the yacht to the RSYS team - led by Karyn Gojnich - which headed out for a training session in light airs at midday.
RPAYC team members Abby Ehler is currently in Europe, and Stacey Jackson is in Hawaii. They will meet up with the team in the US.
