Following the awards ceremony for a historic edition in terms of enthusiasm and following, the Gulf of Genoa hosted a spectacular sailing event aboard the boats of the future, uniting institutions and VIPs in a passion for the sea.

The 2026 Giro d'Italia Vela concluded yesterday, Sunday, July 12, leaving behind the echoes of an extraordinary edition, arguably the most exciting and spectacular ever. Immediately following the official celebrations and the fitting tributes to the winners and all the athletes who brought this incredible adventure to life, the spotlight shifted to the waters of the Gulf of Genoa. Here, the final act of the event took place: an evocative VIP sailing event that transformed the sea into an exceptional stage.

Technology and glamour in the old port

The morning's highlights were the five Bénéteau Figaro 3s, the technologically advanced foiling jewels that completed the entire circumnavigation of the Italian peninsula, departing from the waters of Venice and arriving in the shadow of the Lanterna. Moored until a few hours earlier on the docks of the old port, the high-performance one-designs cast off, welcoming a truly special crew aboard.

Representatives of the institutional world, well-known faces from the world of culture, and celebrities from the worlds of entertainment and sport came aboard to experience firsthand the thrill of sailing of the future, witnessing the evolution of modern high-performance sailing.

The spectacle of sails in the gulf

Despite the weather conditions offering a light breeze, with winds fluctuating between 5 and 6 knots, the boats provided two hours of pure adrenaline and fun. The crews exploited every last breath of wind to push their boats to the limit, treating guests to a true acrobatic sailing lesson.

The spectacular unfurling of the downwind sails, with Code Zeros and Gennakers silhouetted against the Genoa sky, thrilled passengers aboard, fascinated by the responsiveness and speed of these boats, born to race on the water.

A Farewell in the Name of the Sea

The maritime parade was the perfect culmination of an event that went far beyond a simple sporting competition. The 2026 Giro d'Italia, the flagship event of the Navy Pink Ribbon, succeeded in embracing the entire country, promoting maritime culture and the timeless values of clean sport. Amidst intense emotions, technological challenges, and breathtaking landscapes, the event bids farewell to the public, leaving behind an indelible memory and the certainty that the passion for the sea and sailing continues to unite Italy under one great flag.
