EXCESS TOUR QUEENSLAND: A SMASHING SUCCESS!

video © World Wide Boat Brokers
The Excess 13 is quickly building its fan base in Australia following its highly successful Australian premiere at the 2026 Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show in May. The boat was a true showstopper, with its sporty lines, generous space, and twin-helm setup, while its real charisma was effortlessly demonstrated at sea.

During the Excess Tour Queensland, held over the last weekend of May, our Australian dealer, 38 South Yacht Sales, together with sub-dealer World Wide Boat Brokers, welcomed nearly 20 groups over the two-day event. Additional sea trials were conducted the following Tuesday with two other prospects. Guests set sail from the Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron in Brisbane, experiencing 15-22 knots of wind under full mainsail, while enjoying wine and oysters.

Here is some feedback we received from guests attending the tour, including a couple planning their retirement and a family of three with a five-year-old daughter on board. Once again, the Excess 13 proves to be a boat that meets the diverse needs and expectations of modern-day sailors. It strikes a perfect balance between onboard comfort and sailing performance—appealing to a broader community of sailing enthusiasts.
"Like many couples our age planning our retirement, my wife and I have been planning for a potential step into the sailing, cruising lifestyle. We first saw the Excess 13 at the 2026 Sanctuary Cove Boat Show. The first impression is one of a chic contemporary Euro/London apartment; functional, comfortable, everything you need but not over the top. The single deck, twin helm setup is our preference as it keeps everyone together. The owners hull basically sold us, the massive open area with it's working/study desk, through the walk in robe to the ensuite ticks all the boxes.

We registered for a trial sail. I was given the opportunity to manoeuvre the boat in the marina - no problem, immediate response from the helm, it was obvious this was no whale! With the sails raised we set out on a couple of reaching legs, the first with the code zero - wow, and the second a close reach with main and jib. I'm no expert sailor but we were able to sail to 30-35 degrees without significant re-trimming, imagine what could be done if I knew what I was doing! "

From Chris and Charmaine
"As a family of three, we had a fantastic experience sailing on the Excess 13 with the Excess Catamarans team out of RQYS.
The conditions were perfect, with around 10-15 knots of breeze and flat water. We were lucky enough to see a pod of dolphins as we left the marina.
The Excess 13 sailed beautifully. In around 15 knots of true wind, we comfortably reached 9 knots of boat speed, and it was great to have the opportunity to skipper and experience the catamaran under sail. The Pulse Line rigging also gave the boat a sporty and responsive feel."

EXCESS'S SUSTAINABLE INNOVATION, SHAPING THE FUTURE OF LEISURE BOATING

As the marine industry faces increasing pressure to reduce carbon emissions and adopt more responsible on-water practices, boat builders today are applying their expertise and vision to sustainability—both in design and construction processes, as well as in the integration of sustainable technologies and equipment on board.

Excess catamarans, known for their out-of-the-box mindset and innovative approach, spare no effort in shaping a more sustainable future for leisure boating.
EXCESS 11 HYBRID
In 2025, Excess officially launched the Excess 11 Hybrid. The propulsion technology on this model combines a genset with twin electric engines, allowing sailors to enjoy quiet docking maneuvers, cruising under fully electric power, and an optimized range. It represents one of the most accessible and efficient solutions on the market for more responsible boating, and will soon be available on the Excess 13.

Excess's efforts in developing hybrid propulsion technology can be traced back to 2021, when the brand introduced the first hybrid Excess 15, equipped with Torqeedo's flagship Deep Blue Hybrid system—a remarkable initiative showcasing its commitment to environmental protection and innovation in green energy generation.
A FOUNDING MEMBER OF E-LEKTRA MARINE
In April, Excess became one of the seven leading brands forming E-LEKTRA MARINE, an unprecedented alliance created by Groupe Beneteau and Fountaine Pajot Group—aimed at establishing a shared standard for electric propulsion and onboard energy autonomy. The initiative is driven by a clear ambition: to accelerate the electrification of sailing and support the transition to low-emission solutions.
WORLD'S FIRST CAT INCORPORATING RECYCLED AND RECYCLABLE RESIN
Also in April, Excess unveiled an Excess 11 featuring Elium® recyclable resin, a low-carbon material, along with 45% recycled fiberglass—a tangible technological breakthrough paving the way for a new generation of more sustainable boats.

With this project, Excess becomes the first brand to incorporate this combination of innovative materials into a catamaran. It marks a major milestone, opening the door to a new generation of catamarans where technological innovation and recyclability are fully integrated, without compromising the performance and reliability standards sailors expect.
SPOTLIGHT ON EXCESS 13'S SUSTAINABLE FEATURES
For the award-winning Excess 13, the team designed the model with a "less is more" mindset. The aim is to offer greater functionality and comfort on board while reducing environmental impact and minimizing the use of materials. The result is a lighter yet stronger boat that delivers outstanding sailing sensations.
It features a rainwater recovery system on the coachroof, providing valuable autonomy for deck washing, rinsing, or dishwashing. The Excess 13 is also designed with efficient natural ventilation, creating a cooler, more comfortable interior while reducing energy consumption.
Several storage compartments are lined with natural cork, and a clever Jack & Jill door beneath the deck serves both as a cabin door and a closet door.
With the Cannes Yachting Festival approaching, the entire Excess team warmly invites you to visit our booth and explore our full range on site. Visitors will have the opportunity to experience our vision of sustainable boating firsthand.
