The breath of the wind and the darkness of the Adriatic form the backdrop to a night of pure adrenaline for the 2026 Giro d'Italia a Vela.

The Figaro fleet is leaving behind the kilometers of the second, intense stage of the competition, setting course resolutely toward the splendid scenery of Vieste. For the competing crews, the prolonged effort is finally about to translate into the close finish of a stage that has held more than a few tactical surprises.

A race against time under the stars

The latest information from the race course around 8:00 PM spoke clearly: the race leaders were sailing between 25 and 30 nautical miles from the Gargano coast. A handful of hours separate the skippers from the long-awaited landing in Puglia. According to the navigators and race officials, the final parade and the arrival of the first boats are expected in the dead of night, approximately between 1:30 and 2:00 AM. It will be a captivating finish, where the sailors' alertness and ability to exploit the nighttime thermal breezes will make the difference.

The Judges' Verdict and the InShore Spectacle

Tomorrow morning will begin with the official counting. It will be necessary to wait until dawn for the publication of the final rankings, which will consolidate the gaps and assign the points for this second stage. But the Giro d'Italia Vela program offers no break for spectators and enthusiasts: once the offshore race is over, the spotlight will shift inshore. The waters of Vieste will immediately be filled with the spectacular InShore regattas, ready to provide high-speed thrills. The young and lively Waszp and the flying WingFoil will take center stage, transforming the coastline into a veritable wind stadium with their water-level stunts.
