The Midlength Mk II marks a major step forward in Armstrong board design, introducing our all-new X-Form Precision Moulded Board Technology.

Built to deliver a lighter, stronger, and more connected ride, it redefines what riders can expect from a foilboard, combining precision manufacturing with uncompromising performance and durability.

Refined through years of testing in New Zealand's most demanding conditions, the Midlength Mk II blends Armstrong's signature feel with a new level of control and consistency. It's designed not just to perform, but to keep performing session after session.

At the heart of the Midlength Mk II is X-Form, Armstrong's next-generation precision moulded construction. Developed to achieve an optimal strength-to-weight ratio, X-Form delivers a lighter, stiffer, and more durable platform while preserving the connected feel riders expect from an Armstrong board. The result is a board that feels crisp and responsive from day one and stays that way over time.

On the water, the Midlength Mk II feels composed, intuitive, and incredibly connected. A thinner X-Form profile creates a more direct link to the foil, while the refined bottom design promotes earlier lift, cleaner touchdowns, and faster recovery back onto foil. Combined with a surf-style squash tail, Forward Geometry foil track, integrated carbon foil tracks, dual carbon stringer system, and redesigned deck grip, the Midlength Mk II delivers greater control, confidence, and progression across every stage of the foiling journey.

Construction:

X-Form - Precision Molded Board Technology

From the beginning, Armstrong was built on a simple belief: riders should be able to trust their equipment in the harshest conditions, every day. X-Form was born from that same mindset. When existing manufacturing methods couldn't deliver the strength, precision, and durability we envisioned, we didn't compromise; we built our own purpose-designed factory. X-Form represents our commitment to doing things properly, using precision manufacturing to create boards that are stronger, more consistent, and built to progress with riders over time.

Why we built X-Form?

Optimal Strength to Weight Ratio.

X-Form was developed to reduce weight while solving long-standing durability and consistency challenges. This construction delivers an uncompromising strength-to-weight ratio with precision-tuned performance. Because performance means nothing if your gear doesn’t last.

By eliminating the inconsistencies and long-term fatigue associated with traditional board construction, X-Form creates boards that are lighter, stronger, more durable, and more connected underfoot. The result is predictable performance, increased longevity, and a direct connection to the foil that riders can feel every session.

What exactly is X-Form?

Exact Form, Every Time.

X-Form is Armstrong's precision-moulded board technology and manufacturing process. Developed using proprietary CNC-machined moulds, precision-engineered internal components, and advanced composite construction, every X-Form board is formed in a single moulding cycle under uniform pressure and temperature. The process permanently locks in the board's rocker lines, rails, bevels, and contours while ensuring every internal component is aligned to exact tolerances. Drawing on Armstrong's experience designing and manufacturing high-precision moulded foils, X-Form brings the same level of manufacturing accuracy and consistency to board construction.

X-Form Benefits:

More Direct Connection

The strength and precision of X-Form construction allow for a considerably thinner board profile, creating a more direct connection to the foil. The result is cleaner feedback underfoot, improved control, and a more responsive feel that helps riders stay connected to what the foil is doing.

Built to Last

Designed to withstand the demands of everyday progression, X-Form delivers a stronger, stiffer, and more durable construction than traditional board manufacturing methods. The precision-moulded process helps maintain the board's structural integrity and ride characteristics over time, reducing softening and fatigue session after session.

X-Form Features:

Foil Assist Compatible Window: Foil Assist compatible window for a clean, uninterrupted remote signal.

Double Sandwich Foot Area: Complete PVC wrap of deck and underside of board, with extra reinforced foot panels doubled with another layer of high- density PVC to handle the heaviest landings.

High-Density PVC Wrap: Entire internal surface of board wrapped in high-density PVC. Even if it does crack, it won't absorb water like EPS foam would.

High-Density PVC Rails: High-density PVC foam wrap of the whole perimeter of the board. Protects the areas of the board most at risk of damage.

Ultralight Large Sphere EPS Core: The high-pressure moulded layup is super stiff, and the ultralight EPS core absorbs shocks for a solid and smooth ride.

Dual Carbon Stringer System: Armstrong's reputed I-beam top-to-bottom dual carbon stringers provide maximum structural rigidity and durability by fully connecting the deck and the bottom of the board.

Carbon Foil Tracks: Proprietary carbon fibre foil tracks are keyed directly into the stringer fibres along with carbon fibre for a fully integrated and ultra-strong construction where it counts most.

Shape & Outline

Balanced, Responsive, Predictable. On the water, the Midlength Mk II feels composed, responsive, and predictable. The improved stiffness profile creates a clean, connected sensation underfoot, allowing riders to feel exactly what the foil is doing. The result is more confidence at speed, better control in critical moments, and a smoother, more intuitive riding experience across disciplines.

Refined Profile

Thanks to the new X-Form construction, the refined profile features a considerably thinner board, delivering a more direct connection to the foil and reducing unwanted touchdowns.

Optimized volume distribution

Optimised volume distribution maintains stability and balance while allowing the board to sit lower to the water, creating a cleaner, more responsive feel underfoot.

The result is a thinner, more connected board that enhances control, feedback, and confidence across all conditions.

Reduced Sticking & Tracking

The new bottom design is shaped to optimise fluid dynamics at every phase of flight.

A refined double-concave transitioning to a subtle V helps generate early lift, making takeoffs easier and more efficient while smoothing touchdowns. When the board reconnects with the water, it glances off the surface rather than sticking or tracking, allowing for quick, clean release back onto the foil. Shallower chines and a flatter bottom through the rear further reduce drag and resistance, creating a fast, predictable feel that supports take-offs and landings.

Surf Style Squash Tail

The surf-style squashed tail adds stability when getting onto the board, making early positioning and balance more intuitive. By allowing the rails to remain more parallel for longer, the shape increases surface efficiency and helps generate speed quickly, improving take-off performance. The result is a tail design that feels stable underfoot while delivering faster, more confident launches onto foil.

Forward Geometry Foil Track

Armstrong's Forward Geometry concept, introduced in 2021, redefined foilboard design by placing the foil more centrally to reduce swing weight and increase responsiveness while remaining compatible with any foil system. The Midlength Mk II continues this legacy with FG foil tracks positioned further forward for enhanced manoeuvrability and a more connected feel on foil across all board sizes.

Deck grip

More Grip, More Control The new Midlength Mk II deck grip is designed to reduce weight while increasing grip and control underfoot. Despite the lighter construction, it maintains Armstrong's signature soft feel, providing comfort and confidence for riders learning new skills, using Foil Assist, or spending extended sessions on an e-foil.

Deck Grip Features:

  • Dual Foot Arch Bars - Intuitive foot positioning.
  • Rear Foot Wedges - Intuitive foot positioning relative to mast position.
  • Foil Track Indicators - For foot positioning relative to mast position.
  • Triangle Cut Outs - Reduce weight and increase grip.
