The NorthStar SailGP Team delivered an impressive performance at the Mubadala New York Sail Grand Prix, overcoming a disrupted opening day to secure a spot in the event's grand final and third place overall.

The weekend began under challenging circumstances as racing on Saturday was significantly impacted, with only three F50s able to race. The Canadian team, along with most of the fleet, was unable to race due to the high winds that limited the craning operations.

The NorthStar SailGP Team responded with one of its strongest performances of the season today. Across the three fleet races on Sunday, the Canadian team consistently delivered strong starts, smart tactical decisions and clean execution to secure a coveted place in the grand final. The result marks another significant step forward for NorthStar as it continues to establish itself among the league's top contenders.

"I'm proud of how the team performed this weekend," said CEO Phil Kennard. "To miss out on racing opportunities on Saturday and then come back on Sunday and put together three strong fleet races under pressure, says a lot about the character of this team. Securing a place in the grand final and finishing third overall is a great result ahead of our home event in Halifax."

The New York event showcased the competitiveness of the Rolex SailGP Championship, where margins between teams are often measured in seconds and every race can dramatically impact the standings. NorthStar's ability to remain composed and capitalize on each opportunity proved critical throughout the day.

"It's great to be back on the podium, it's been a long time coming. We know that we are capable and that we've not had the best start to the season, so it's nice to pull a good Grand Prix together, we're happy."

The team now shifts its focus to one of the most anticipated events on the SailGP calendar, the Canada Sail Grand Prix | Halifax, taking place June 20-21.

Racing in front of a home crowd, the NorthStar SailGP Team will look to build on its New York success and continue its push up the championship leaderboard. The Halifax event is expected to attract thousands of spectators to the waterfront.

"We're excited to bring SailGP back to Canada," added Kennard. "The support from Canadian fans has been incredible throughout our journey, and competing in Halifax will be a special moment for our team. New York gave us confidence and momentum, and we're looking forward to carrying that energy into our home event."
