Bangor Regatta 2026 at Royal Ulster Yacht Club - One Month To Go

The countdown is well and truly on to Bangor Regatta 2026 (BR26). Hosted by Royal Ulster Yacht Club (RUYC), Bangor Regatta 2026 will run from the 25th to the 28th June. The Organising Committee are really pleased to announce that they have over forty yachts entered, thus far, from as far a field as Dublin Bay, the south coast of England the Clyde.
The Race Officer will be the National Yacht Club's Con Murphy who has officiated at Bangor Regatta previously. Con's calm approach and his wealth of knowledge will provide brilliant racecourses and a lot of fun and excitement for our sailors. Con will be supported by Royal Ulster Yacht Club's mark-laying team headed by RUYC's Sailing Secretary, Rory Flannigan who remarked; "I am really excited to watch these beautiful yachts compete for the Bangor Town Trophy in front of our beautiful clubhouse and to dance the night away with their crews."
The winner of this year's Bangor Town Trophy will be presented with an original Terry Bradley artwork depicting a yacht in Bangor's traditional colours. The best performing yacht will win the coveted Bangor Town Trophy.
Yachts competing in Bangor Regatta will be divided into those competing on a windward/leeward style course and those racing a variety of coastal races which will take in the sights of Belfast Lough and the North Channel.
The Sigma 33 Class Championships will be held as part of Bangor Regatta. Ten Sigma 33s will compete for the title of Class Champion over ten windward/leeward races. The Sigma 33 Class will also host their annual class dinner at the event. James Millar's Mayrise from Helensburgh Sailing Club has placed highly at previous Bangor Regattas and is one to watch for!
To support the large fleet of Impalas at Royal Ulster Yacht Club the Bangor Regatta Committee paired with animal food brand Feedwell to create the Feedwell Impala Championships as part of Bangor Regatta. This championship will race with Class 2 and sees various Impalas from Royal Ulster Yacht Club and Ballyholme Yacht Club compete for the title of Feedwell Impala Champion.
Event Chairman Gavin Watson had this to say:
"With only one month to go and the sailing season under way, the BR26 team are ramping up the organisation of this year's premier keelboat sailing event in Northern Ireland. On the shores off Belfast Lough and in the grounds of Royal Ulster Yacht Club everything is nearly ready. Our entries have been growing fast with yachts from as far a field as south of England, Dublin and Scotland not to mention our local yachts.
