Lymington Town SC is celebrating its 80th Anniversary throughout 2026 with lots of special events. Last weekend was the Big Celebration Weekend, with wall-to-wall activities for everyone, from age 2 to 82. And the weather gods were so kind.

We started on Friday afternoon with a 'Sea Salt & Smuggling' walk delivered by Lymington Town Tours. This interesting insight into Lymington's history was followed by a fabulous cream tea back at the club provided by several of our member-bakers.

Then it was the turn of the youngsters to have a play in the Sea Water Baths, followed by a kids-eat-free dinner in the Solent Room.

Down below, on the lawn and in the newly-refurbished Lower Deck Bar, we were entertained by and danced to the excellent jazz trio 'Jazz off the Wall'. Perfect!

Saturday was the Bart's Bash Animal Safari, led by Geoff Havers and his merry team. Perfect champagne sailing and plenty of boats, sailors, inflatable (and real) animals. If anyone wants to donate to this excellent charity, see justgiving.com/team/lymington-town-sailing

A rush ensued to get into our glad rags and it was the Black Tie or Colourful Ball, where we found out that our balcony can support 90+ revellers, enjoying the music and the beautiful balmy evening.

Sunday was too light for the planned dinghy race, but today was the turn of the Cruiser Racers. Under the beady eye of RO Nick Hopwood, we sped along on the tide to Hurst, then back again as the tide turned.

It might not have been very windy, but it was glorious in the Western Solent.

Then, we finished off with BBQ and games on the lawn, with Nigel & Liz Walbank winning the hilarious 'How well do you know your Executive Committee' quiz.

A great time was had by all. Many thanks to all the staff and volunteers who made it possible.
