2026 Star Western Hemisphere Championship at Gull Lake Yacht Club, Michigan - Overall

by ISCYRA 23 May 15:05 PDT May 22-24, 2026

The 2026 Star Western Hemisphere Championship came to a close today on Gull Lake after a final day marked by grey skies, persistent showers and challenging conditions that allowed the fleet to complete one last race before the championship was decided.

After three days of racing and six races completed overall, Jack Jennings and Pedro Trouche were crowned the new Star Western Hemisphere Champions.

Jennings and Trouche established themselves as the team to beat from the opening day of the regatta, posting an impressive string of results that included two race victories and remarkable consistency throughout the championship. Their strong early performances ultimately gave them enough margin to secure the title before the final race.

Second overall went to Star World Champions George Szabo and Guy Avellon, who remained firmly in contention until the final day, when they had another consistent performance in the concluding race.

Completing the podium were Arthur Anosov and Dave Caesar, after a competitive and tightly contested series.

The championship brought together 26 teams, primarily from the United States with Canadian participation as well, delivering three days of varied conditions on Gull Lake. From light and tactical opening races to the spectacular 25-knot breeze of day two and today's cold, wet finale, the event tested every aspect of Star sailing: strategy, endurance, boat handling and consistency.
