New partnership to deliver sustainability leadership and global access to sailing, honouring the legacy of Andrew "Bart" Simpson

Artemis Sail GP on Saturday announced a new Purpose Partnership with the Andrew Simpson Foundation (ASF), launching in Bermuda on the anniversary of Andrew "Bart" Simpson's passing.

The partnership reflects a shared commitment to creating meaningful opportunities in sailing while delivering measurable environmental impact, aligning with SailGP's Impact League, which rewards teams for leadership across people and planet At the heart of the partnership is a simple ambition: to turn legacy into opportunity.

Andrew Simpson, known as Bart, was widely respected not only for his achievements in elite sailing, but for his belief that the sport should be accessible, inspiring, and open to more people. This partnership builds on that legacy- creating pathways into sailing and foiling for the next generation, while protecting the waters the sport depends on.

Iain Percy, CEO of Artemis SailGP, said:

"Today is a personal moment for us as a team. Bart believed deeply that sailing should be accessible and inspiring to more people. This partnership is about carrying that forward and turning that legacy into real opportunity.

"To announce this partnership in Bermuda, a place that means so much in Artemis' story, and on the anniversary of Bart's passing, makes this moment especially significant for all of us.

Together, Artemis and ASF will deliver activity across the 2026 SailGP season, aligned to key Impact League priorities, combining measurable environmental action with authentic community engagement and athlete-led storytelling.

The Andrew Simpson Foundation is dedicated to transforming lives through sailing, widely recognised as one of the most impactful sailing charities globally, delivering programmes that build confidence, skills, and long-term opportunity for young people and communities.

Since its founding in 2013, ASF has supported over 250,000 young people, generated £87 million in social value, and invested more than £20 million in charitable activity, engaging communities across the UK and internationally.

Through its programmes, ASF works with a wide range of communities- including young people from underrepresented backgrounds, individuals with disabilities, and those facing barriers to access- creating inclusive pathways into sailing, education, and maritime careers.

ASF's activity is underpinned by four core pillars: enabling participation, developing skills and personal pathways , building connected communities, and championing environmental engagement-ensuring participants not only access the water, but build lasting confidence, resilience, and connection to their environment.

Sally Turner, Chief Development Officer at the Andrew Simpson Foundation, said:

"Everything we do at the Andrew Simpson Foundation is about creating opportunity where it doesn't exist. This partnership with Artemis allows us to take that further and connecting more young people to the water, opening pathways into the sport, and delivering impact that is both meaningful and measurable, in a way that truly reflects Bart's legacy."

The Foundation's work has been recognised internationally, including receiving the World Sailing Development Award, and through its flagship global initiative, Bart's Bash - an annual event that brings together sailing communities around the world in celebration of Bart's legacy.
