Tenzor International Cup - J/70 Open Winter Series 2025/26 - Leg 6 Day 2

by Burak Zengin 12 Apr 02:12 PDT 10-12 April 2026

The second day of racing in final Leg 6 of Tenzor International Cup - J/70 Open Winter Series 2025/2026 was once again marked by extremely close and uncompromising competition among a very strong fleet.

The Race Committee successfully completed three races, but the action on the water kept the umpires fully occupied.

"Yeah, we umpires had a super long day on the water. We had three successful races that were super close. We can feel that the tension is getting higher, boats are getting closer - many, many protests, many decisions by umpires. We had are satisfied with this day and we hope sailors too," commented German umpire Jules Tronquet.

Several teams executed their strategies perfectly. Tenzor Team led by Andrei Pushkin moved up to second place overall, reducing the gap to the leaders to just one point. Cheese Sailing of Güney Kaptan maintained their leading position at the top of the table, while Ameera Jet secured third place after six races.

"A wonderful windy day. Three excellent, clean races in 10-12 knots of wind. This sailing area is giving us fantastic weather conditions. Very tight racing, but thank God, everything worked out for us today. More or less stable starts. We chose the right side when needed. So we are very happy. We remain focused, because there are three more races in final day. Everything can change, so we are setting our sights on tomorrow", - shared impressions Daniil Odintsov, tactician of Tenzor Team.

"It was a great day for all the teams as there were a very high level of sailing in Bodrum, Aspat and we really thank the Race Committee and Tenzor Sailing Club for this regatta. I think it was a very successful day for our team and we look forward to sail in same way in final race day, - added Emir Icgoren, helmsman of Ameera Jet.

Meanwhile, Nautique Yachting, AtomTavatuy, and Dolce Vita teams lost some ground, but all three teams remain inside the top six and are still fighting for the podium.

"Second race day wasn't the best day for us, but we are still in the fight for podium. Like yesterday, the fleet was really compact and fierce. We had a 4 7 8 but we lost some easy points which was really important. Tomorrow is a new day which we will do our best to finish as high as we can", - commented Doga Aribas from Nautique Yachting.

In the Corinthian division, Orient Express of Haluk Babacan had a highly productive day, finishing in the top-3 twice and drawing level on points with sixth place overall.

"Today was a much better day for Orient Express following a reasonably good first day. We seem to get a good pace at the starts and feel strong upwind. We work hard on keeping our position in such a strong fleet as making a small mistake is always costly. Today leading the fleet at certain times gives confidence to the team and myself in positioning. We consider every race as a great opportunity to learn and enjoy sailing." - said Arif Gürdenli, crew member of Orient Express.

With one decisive racing day to go, the overall standings remain highly uncertain. Three more races are scheduled, promising a thrilling conclusion to the event.
