February 28, 2026, will be remembered by the 2nd edition of the GLOBE40 as the day the crews of the race rounded Cape Horn, a milestone marked by symbolic passages, with the exception of CREDIT MUTUEL, which was the first to round this legendary landmark on February 26 at 13:03 UTC.

Six crews crossed the famous shores of this remote Chilean island during the day, with BARCO BRASIL (14:26 UTC), FREE DOM 10 minutes later (14:35 UTC), then BELGIUM OCEAN RACING (15:51 UTC) and WILSON AROUND THE WORLD (17:04 UTC) following in succession - four crews in 2 hours and 30 minutes. In the evening, WHISKEY JACK (22:49 UTC) and then JANGADA RACING (02:19 UTC) completed the crossing.

After more than nine days of racing since the start in São Paulo, the gaps between most of the competitors remain very small. As for the leaders, BELGIUM OCEAN RACING - CURIUM regained second place, overtaking the two leading boats, BARCO BRASIL and FREE DOM, in the afternoon. The Belgian team continues its comeback, now 320 miles behind the CREDIT MUTUEL team, which just two days ago had a 612-mile lead.

Rounding Cape Horn, in manageable conditions, is highly symbolic for the skippers of the second edition; it marks both the end of the Pacific Ocean leg and the return to the South Atlantic, a clear milestone on the journey back to Europe, and for most, a personal achievement—a key objective of the GLOBE40 project launch. The emotion was palpable, shared by the skippers with their teams and families, as well as with the other competitors. Numerous messages of friendship and mutual respect were posted on social media this afternoon.

You are now Cape Horners! Respect!
