Fremantle Sailing Club (FSC) is proud to announce that it will host the Australian Women's Match Racing Championship for the second consecutive year, taking place 10-13 September 2026. The return of the championship to Western Australia highlights FSC's growing role as a leader in women's sailing and high-performance development.
The 2025 championship concluded with an outstanding victory by Fremantle's own Nia Jerwood and her team, who claimed the national title on home waters. Their success was a milestone for both FSC and Western Australia's sailing community. The 2026 edition will see them return to defend their title against Australia's top emerging and elite women sailors.
Competition will again be held in Elliott 7s, the premier training and competition platform for match racing in Australia. Their tactical responsiveness ensures high-impact, spectator-friendly racing close to shore.
The championship's return to Fremantle underscores the club's commitment to delivering world-class racing, expanding pathways for women in sailing, and fostering participation at all levels of the sport.
A photograph of the 2025 winning team with Minister Simone McGurk accompanies this release, celebrating Western Australia's leadership in supporting women's sport.
Fremantle Sailing Club looks forward to welcoming competitors, officials, volunteers, and supporters for another exceptional showcase of Australian women's match racing.
