The 22nd edition of Sandberg PalmaVela strengthens its sporting profile with the inclusion of the Mini 6.50 fleet in "La Larga", the iconic offshore race organised by the Real Club Náutico de Palma.

Recognised for its transoceanic spirit and its focus on solo and double-handed sailing, this class brings a high-level technical and sporting dimension to the regatta. Designed to tackle major ocean crossings such as the Mini Transat, the Mini 6.50 yachts are true laboratories of nautical innovation, combining high performance, meteorological strategy and physical endurance.

"La Larga", established as one of the benchmark offshore courses in the Mediterranean, provides the perfect setting for this fleet to showcase its full potential. With a demanding course shaped by tactical decision-making, changing conditions and night sailing, the race will test the crews' skill and determination.

The integration of the Mini 6.50 into the official programme highlights Sandberg PalmaVela's commitment to broadening horizons and connecting inshore and offshore sailing within a single event. This decision not only enhances the competitive level but also strengthens the regatta's international positioning, attracting offshore specialists and dedicated teams.

Hugo Ramón, Mini class sailor and Sailing Delegate of the RCN Palma, stated: "Including the Mini fleet in PalmaVela means opening the great celebration of sailing to the most sustainable offshore boat in existence — a class that does not rely on fossil fuels and represents the purest essence of sailing."

With this addition, the 22nd Sandberg PalmaVela reaffirms its commitment to innovation, growth and organisational excellence, delivering a diverse sporting programme that combines spectacle, technology and a passion for the sea.

Entry deadline

The first discounted entry deadline closes on February 23 and, with 66 days to go before the opening day of racing, nearly 60 teams from 19 countries have already confirmed their participation. These figures suggest that the Bay of Palma will once again be filled with racing sails and high-performance yachts between late April and early May.
