Online registration is now officially open for the 2026 Melges 24 World Championship, set for September 19-26, 2026, as the global Melges 24 fleet prepares to converge on Harbor Springs, Michigan.

Hosted by Little Traverse Yacht Club (LTYC), the International Melges 24 Class's premier event is now accepting entries, with the Notice of Race published and available on the official event website.

Interest in the championship has been strong from the outset. With teams already entered prior to the publication of the Notice of Race, it is an early indicator of the enthusiasm building for what is widely anticipated to be one of the standout regattas on the international sailing calendar. With registration now open, organizers encourage teams worldwide to secure their place on the starting line and begin planning for this exceptional event.

Following the award-winning 2024 Melges 24 World Championship in San Francisco, where the San Francisco Yacht Club received U.S. Sailing's prestigious St. Petersburg Yacht Club Trophy for Outstanding Regatta Management, the 2026 championship aims to build on that benchmark and deliver an equally memorable experience in Harbor Springs.

"Our yacht club and community are fully committed to delivering a safe, fair, and fun championship for everyone who comes to Harbor Springs," said Tom Meier, Regatta Chair for the 2026 Melges 24 World Championship at Little Traverse Yacht Club. "We are fortunate to sail on one of the greatest racing playgrounds anywhere, with fresh, deep water, clean air, and tree-lined shores. We have assembled an outstanding team of race officials, judges, and administrators from across Michigan and around the world, supported by dedicated club members and volunteers from throughout the state. From racing to hospitality to off-the-water activities, we are ready to welcome the fleet. Come race in our playground—we think you'll be amazed."

Awarded to the U.S. Melges 24 Class Association (USM24CA) in early 2025, the Harbor Springs Worlds has been quietly and carefully taking shape. With the Notice of Race now in place and entries officially open, planning efforts are accelerating as momentum builds toward a championship expected to draw a truly international fleet.

Nestled on the shores of Little Traverse Bay, Harbor Springs is widely regarded as one of the finest sailing destinations in the United States. The venue combines classic Great Lakes elegance with exceptional racing conditions, featuring warm freshwater, clean air, and a steady, reliable breeze. The 2026 World Championship has been designated a Vakaros RaceSense event, with LTYC's world-class race management utilizing mark-set boats and race courses positioned in close proximity to the club. This configuration ensures efficiency on and off the water, with minimal transit time for competing teams.

Ashore, sailors and guests will enjoy full-service club amenities within a scenic, walkable downtown known for its dining, shopping, green spaces, and family-friendly atmosphere. The surrounding region also offers parks, trails, golf, and a wide range of outdoor recreation, making the championship an attractive destination for teams, families, and supporters.

"The International Melges 24 Class cordially invites all teams to register now and plan to race at the 2026 World Championship in Harbor Springs," said Duncan Stamper, incoming International Melges 24 Class Chair. "This will be one of the most memorable Worlds in class history—a true destination regatta set against the stunning backdrop of Little Traverse Bay. With the Notice of Race published and entries open, now is the time for teams to commit. This event is not just for the sailors; families and friends are welcome to share in the experience, and this venue is perfect for that."

Marine services and event logistics will be supported by first-class local facilities, including the Irish Boat Shop at the Harbor Springs Municipal Marina and Walstrom Marine. Together, these partners will provide comprehensive services for launch and haul, container and trailer storage, rigging, parts, and technical support, ensuring teams have the infrastructure needed to focus squarely on racing.

To support early planning, organizers have secured a lodging benefit for registered competitors and teams, offering a 10% discount on accommodations from June 1 through the end of September 2026 at select regional properties. Teams should use the code LTBYC26 at the Highlands of Harbor Springs, Boyne Mountain and the Inn at Bay Harbor, each offering a wide assortment of homes, condominiums, and hotel rooms.

All Melges 24 teams worldwide are encouraged to register and plan to attend the 2026 Melges 24 World Championship in Harbor Springs. The Notice of Race, online entry, and event details are available on the official championship website, with additional logistical guidance and competitor information to be released in the coming months.

With elite competition, proven race management, and one of the most stunning backdrops in the sport, Harbor Springs is poised to deliver a Melges 24 World Championship worthy of the title.
