Archipelago Yachts announced the All-Electric Archipelago 40 at boot Düsseldorf 2026, introducing the first fully electric model in the British company's range.

Based on the proven and highly capable Archipelago 40, the all-electric version has been carefully re-engineered to accommodate a high-capacity battery system and electric drivetrain, while retaining the robust, go-anywhere DNA that defines the Archipelago brand.

Dr Stephen Weatherley, CEO of Archipelago Yachts, commented: "The All-Electric Archipelago 40 represents a pivotal moment for our company and for the wider expedition yacht market. Rather than compromise capability, we have taken everything that makes the Archipelago 40 so respected and re-engineered it for a zero-emissions future. By partnering with ePropulsion and designing the boat to be ready for future methanol range extension, we are giving owners a genuinely future-proof vessel that is efficient, powerful, and responsible."

At the heart of the new vessel is a fully integrated electric propulsion system supplied by ePropulsion, featuring twin 250kW low-speed electric motors. The motors deliver direct drive propulsion, eliminating the need for gearboxes and enhancing efficiency, reliability, and onboard comfort. Energy is stored in approximately 600kWh of installed battery capacity, supporting both propulsion and hotel loads.

To further enhance energy independence, the All-Electric Archipelago 40 is equipped with an extensive 8kW solar array, seamlessly integrated across the roof, side decks, and topsides. This solar capability significantly extends operational range and reduces reliance on shore power.

Danny Tao, Co-founder and CEO of ePropulsion, said: "The All-Electric Archipelago 40 shows what can be achieved when electric propulsion is fully integrated into the vessel design. Combining our twin 250kW low-speed electric motors with a high-capacity battery system and integrated solar generation, the platform delivers efficiency, reliability, and outstanding onboard comfort. It is a strong example of how electric propulsion can enhance capability while supporting a more sustainable future for cruising yachts."

The vessel delivers a top speed of approximately 22 knots, offers accommodation for up to six guests, and has been designed primarily for operation in the Mediterranean, where electric propulsion, solar generation, and low-noise operation deliver clear advantages.

Importantly, the All-Electric Archipelago 40 has been engineered as a future-proof platform, with the structure and systems already prepared for the integration of a methanol range extender once the technology and infrastructure mature.

The launch of the All-Electric Archipelago 40 underlines Archipelago Yachts' commitment to innovation, sustainability, and long-term ownership value, while maintaining the rugged performance and refined design for which the brand is known.

Archipelago Yachts are exhibiting at boot Düsseldorf 2026 on stand 7AE02, where members of the Archipelago Yachts team are available for interviews and technical briefings.
