The PIC Harbour Classic will return to Auckland’s waterfront on 20–22 March 2026 (race day 21 March), with organisers confirming a change from the originally planned 27–28 February dates due to the timing and setup of other major waterfront events.

“It’s an incredibly busy and exciting time on the waterfront,” says PIC Harbour Classic Commodore Adrian Percival. “However, with SailGP being held later this year, there’s been a flow-on effect for other major events. In particular, it shortened the build time available for the Auckland Boat Show, which meant we needed to move the PIC Harbour Classic to March. But we’re thrilled to be back and can’t wait to welcome sailors and spectators for another fantastic weekend on the water.”

The PIC Harbour Classic has quickly become a highlight of the summer sailing calendar, doubling participant numbers over the past few years. The event attracts a mix of competitive sailors, cruisers, and newcomers, and remains open to all, promoting mass participation on the water while celebrating Auckland’s rich maritime history.

A key drawcard remains the ability for boats to moor within the downtown precinct, making the event particularly attractive for out-of-town crews keen to enjoy a full weekend on Auckland’s waterfront.

The weekend will again include the welcome party and the popular prizegiving and after-race celebrations, delivering the relaxed camaraderie the PIC Harbour Classic has become known for.

Further details on racing, entertainment and registration will be released soon.
