Rolex Yachtsman and Yachtswoman of the Year winners are selected through a vote of past Rolex Award recipients and leading members of the sailing media. More information about the awards and the selection process is available on the US Sailing website.
The award recipients will be announced at New York Yacht Club's Champions Dinner on February 12, 2026 in New York City, co-hosted by New York Yacht Club and US Sailing. In addition to the Rolex Awards, the Kevin Burnham Memorial Award and the Nathanael G. Herreshoff Trophy will also be presented.
"Being named a Rolex Yachtsman or Yachtswoman of the Year is one of the most meaningful honors in American sailing," said Charlie Enright, CEO of US Sailing and 2023 Rolex Yachtsman of the Year. "This year's finalists have delivered exceptional performances on the water and continue to set the standard for excellence, sportsmanship, and leadership. Their accomplishments inspire sailors at every level and reflect the strength of our sailing community."
Each year, the awards not only recognize individual achievement but also inspire future generations of sailors to pursue excellence. The selection process emphasizes not only competitive success, but also the sportsmanship, leadership, and commitment that define exceptional sailors.
Last year, the 2024 Rolex Yachtsmen of the Year honors were awarded to Ian Barrows and Hans Henken, while the 2024 Rolex Yachtswoman of the Year title was awarded to Cole Brauer.
Established in 1961 by US Sailing and sponsored by Rolex, the Rolex Yachtsman and Yachtswoman of the Year Awards are widely regarded as the highest individual honors in American sailing. Over the decades, the awards have recognized many of the sport's most accomplished figures, including Olympians, world champions, and record-setting sailors.
