World Sailing, the international governing body for the sport of sailing, welcomes and is fully supportive of today's announcement of the formation of the America's Cup Partnership (ACP) - a historic alliance of five founding teams committed to a new era of shared governance, sustainability, and long-term growth for sailing's oldest and most prestigious trophy.

The America's Cup Partnership - comprising Emirates Team New Zealand (NZL), Athena Racing (GBR), Luna Rossa (ITA), Tudor Team Alinghi (SUI) and K-Challenge (FRA) - marks a transformative moment in the 174-year history of the America's Cup.

World Sailing applauds the founding teams and supports the collective commitment by leading teams to invest in a stable sporting calendar, shared governance and sustainable funding which underscores the potential of elite sailing to thrive on the global sports stage.

David Graham, CEO of World Sailing, said: "World Sailing congratulates the founding teams of the America's Cup Partnership on this landmark announcement. Innovation and technical excellence are deeply rooted in the traditions of the America's Cup, and this new alliance has the potential to expand the reach of our sport, inspire more people to get on the water, enhance visibility for our athletes, and elevate sailing's standing in the wider sport sector."
