Notts County Sailing Club First of the Year Race 2026 Preview

by David Eberlin 22 Dec 2025 06:57 AEDT 1 January 2026

Notts County Sailing Club has an annual First of the Year race, a well known tradition going back decades.

The race day started at Stoke Bardolf, the clubs original home and has been held ever since for at least 60 years, nearly 40 of which are at the clubs present home at Hoveringham.

The racing starts at 1130, to allow any hangovers to settle and consists of two back to back races (see the Notice of Race for details). All entry fees go to charity, plus any other donations spectators wish to make. This year the Commodore has chosen a local charity the Children's Bereavement Centre (Newark), visit www.childrensbereavementcentre.co.uk for more information.

All are welcome (PY 894 to 1369 - monohull, and windsurfers) more details at members.ncsc.org.uk/event/open-meetings-first-of-the-year-race

We hope to see many local sailors at the event.
