The 2026 Royal Escape Race has officially launched, and it's time to set your sights on this exciting offshore race in the 2026 season. This iconic cross-Channel test is all about skill, strategy, and stamina. From the intensity of the start line to the tactical decisions offshore and the satisfaction of a hard-fought finish. Challenging conditions, shifting weather systems, and close competition combine to create a race that pushes crews to perform at their very best.

Whether you're returning to chase another strong result or lining up for your first Royal Escape, this is your opportunity to take on a race that truly delivers. If you're looking for a memorable offshore challenge, great competition, and the unmistakable buzz of racing across the Channel, the 2026 Royal Escape Race is not one to miss.

What to Expect

  • Date: 22 May 2026
  • Race distance: Approximately 66.5 nautical miles, sailing offshore from Brighton (UK) to Fécamp (France).
  • The course: A classic cross-Channel challenge requiring sharp tidal awareness, smart weather strategy, and disciplined offshore sailing.
  • Moorings in Fécamp: Event moorings are provided for all competitors on arrival in Fécamp and are included as part of the race entry.
  • Live tracking: Real-time race tracking via Yellow Brick tracking allowing crews, supporters, and race management to follow the fleet's progress throughout the crossing.
  • The finish: A memorable and rewarding finish into the historic port of Fécamp.
  • Post-race social programme: Informal shoreside celebrations with fellow competitors, typically including cheese and wine tasting, champagne prizes, and plenty of time to relax and swap stories after the race. Subject to confirmation, popular social highlights such as Sailing's Got Talent are expected to return.
  • Prizegiving: The main prize-giving is traditionally held back at Sussex Yacht Club on Saturday 13th June 2026.
  • The overall experience: An offshore race combining competitive sailing, social atmosphere, and strong camaraderie defines the Royal Escape Race.
