From December 18 to 21, 2025, the picturesque Turkish resort of Bodrum will host a big sporting event— Leg 2 of Tenzor International Cup — J/70 Open Winter Series 2025/2026 including the first BRICS Sailing Championship in the J/70 class. It makes December the brightest month on the international sailing calendar in Türkiye.

Organized by the international yacht club Tenzor Sailing Club Türkiye with the support of the International J/70 Class Association and the Sailing Federations of Türkiye, China, Russia, India, the event will serve as a vivid example of sport's power as a universal language of dialogue and cooperation.

Regatta will bring together approximately 80 sailors from BRICS and other countries in the waters of the Aegean Sea. The participant geography is impressive: top crews from China Russia, Belarus including Olympians and world champions, sailors from Georgia, Armenia, Türkiye, Italy, as well as race officials from the judging panel representing India —the BRICS chairman in 2026—Germany, and Türkiye.

The strongest teams competing last month in J/70 Turkish Championship are ready to show their best skills. Tenzor Team, Nautique Yachting, Denizcik, Russian Bogatyrs, Ptichki Sailing team, Dolce Vita, Hubex Team, Bars Sailing Team, Eker Team, Happyhour, Orient Express, Ayaz JR and others.

"J/70 BRICS Sailing Championship 2025 is a large-scale project in the world of sailing, an exciting initiative," notes Indian specialist and World Sailing international Race officer (IRO) Srikanth Chaturvedi Thimiti. "The championship will promote the popularization of sailing in BRICS and other countries, as well as strengthen relations between participating nations by fostering cultural exchange, cooperation, and tourism. It is important that this competition will inspire young sailors to pursue personal professional growth within the global sailing community."

China will be represented by a big delegation at the event. Particular interest and a sporting mission at the regatta is assigned to the Chinese team, Changshu Shanghu Lake Sailing Team. As its members note: "Sailing is the ultimate expression of passion, teamwork, and intellect. The goal of this journey is to 'Show Shanghu to the world, and the world to the Shanghu sailor.' This is more than just racing—it is about building connections, learning, and gaining experience through participation in an international fleet."

Among the debuts there is also a Georgian GSC-OneClick team skippered by Kakhaber Noniashvili and representing Georgian Sailing Club.

Regatta program includes three days of intense racing on modern J/70 class boats, which, according to Srikanth Thimiti, "offer a unique combination of speed, maneuverability, and ease of handling," as well as a rich onshore business program with discussions and meetings. The event aims to develop international sports ties in the BRICS+ format and is intended to become a unifying force for successfully addressing international issues.

Key Information

The organizer, Tenzor Sailing Club, is a leading international yacht clubs chain hosting over 100 sporting events annually in Russia, Türkiye and UAE (starting from 2026). The campaign for the Chinese team's participation is proudly supported by Arthur Sports — a professional organizer of sailing events in China with strong international connections.

Tenzor International Cup Series & J/70 BRICS Sailing Championship is not merely a sporting competition but a powerful synergy of a new generation of sailors worldwide and a significant step towards strengthening global solidarity and developing sports ties.
