There's still time to take advantage of early bird pricing for Marinas26, the Asia-Pacific's premier marina industry event, happening 25-27 May at Royal Pines Resort, Gold Coast.

Join industry leaders for three days of insights, networking, and the latest innovations shaping the marina sector. Delegates can also enhance their experience by choosing one of two exclusive Study Tours on 27 May, offering behind-the-scenes access to world-class marinas on the Gold Coast or in The Whitsundays.

The marina industry is also active in promoting marina operations. Enhance your team's skills with the environmental best practices course. This is designed to equip your staff with the tools to identify, manage and minimise environmental risks in their daily work. Courses are completed fully online with no in-person component, allowing participants to complete the course when it's convenient to them!

Meanwhile, the BIA is active in promoting future marine careers. The BIA and member business Marina Bayside in Southern Sydney played host last week to a successful Careers Day, bringing together industry leaders, educators and local students to shine a spotlight on the diverse opportunities within the marine industry. The event welcomed 20 students from four local schools, offering them a unique chance to connect directly with professionals and gain insights into the career pathways available in our industry.

For an industry icon like Bill Barry-Cotter, time spent on the water is often inseparable from the hours spent in the engine room of enterprise. Now in his eighties, Barry-Cotter shows little inclination to slow down. His latest undertaking, the revival of the storied Caribbean brand under the Maritimo umbrella, reaffirms a lifetime defined by invention, persistence and a deep belief in the value of Australian manufacturing. This comes swiftly on the back of the new Maritimo M50 luxury flybridge motor yacht, and the soon-to-be-launched luxury sedan version, the S50.

Steering into 2026, The Boat Works unveils 'Pier 25', taking the premier marine destination to the next level. A multi-storey, architect-designed building at the entry of The Boat Works, Pier 25 will feature premium marine showrooms and multi-level marine office space to provide even more opportunities for marine professionals to dock within one of the Southern Hemisphere's busiest and most dynamic marine hubs. The Boat Works is currently home to over 100 individual marine businesses, many of which have established their national headquarters at the facility, making it a multi-faceted "ecosystem" for the region.

MW Marine has announced its expansion into Western Australia strengthening the presence of some of the world's most respected recreational boating brands in the local market. Their new operation will represent internationally recognised names: Jeanneau, Wellcraft, Four Winns, DB Yachts and Jeanneau Yachts, delivering a world class range of power and sailing vessels to WA buyers.

With the festive season approaching the promotion of safety on the water becomes more relevant. Marine Rescue NSW volunteers across the state returned 823 people safely to shore during November, completing more than 370 search and rescue missions, including 108 emergency responses. Acting Commissioner Todd Andrews said demand remains high for the volunteer service. "Following successive record months in September and October, our volunteers were in high demand throughout November, completing 373 search and rescue missions, just 18 fewer than the record set in 2022."
