The new Swedish SailGP team Artemis Racing has launched their new AC50 in Abu Dhabi, and has commenced training.

Skipper Nathan Outteridge has been joined by New Zealand round the world racer, Brad Farrand - formerly with the Red Bull Italy SailGP team, where he was listed as a grinder. He will join Artemis Racing as a Jib Trimmer. A second top New Zealand sailor and America's Cup winner is also expected to be announced as part of the new team.

The new team, the 13th in the SailGP league, has the backing of Torbjörn Törnqvist who also supported the Swedish team of the same name, at the 2017 America's Cup in Bermuda. Helmed by Nathan Outteridge, now skipper of Emirates Team NZ's America's Cup team, Artemis Racing contested the Challenger Final, losing out to the Kiwis who went on to win the America's Cup.

CEO of the team is Iain Percy, a double Olympic Gold medalist, who was skipper of the Artemis Racing then AC50, in Bermuda. He is also CEO of Artemis Technologies a company formed after the 2017 America's Cup to exploit the racing team's technological base. They have since led the development of zero-emission high-speed electric “foiling” vessels and propulsion systems. They also own a simulator - based on an aircraft flight simulator - that has been used by several America's Cup teams for training.

As a new team in SailGP, Artemis Racing has been allocated extra training days, between the end of the SailGP Grand Final on Sunday and the start of Season 6 in Fremantle on January 17, 2026.

"Because we're a brand new team, we're allowed to get some additional training days, hopefully at the start of the season," Outteridge said on the team's social media.

"The first one will be the event in Abu Dhabi, the final for this year, we're looking at joining the season. Season 6, against some of the best teams for all the teams in SailGP, but we're trying to beat Australia. We're trying to beat Great Britain, we're trying to beat New Zealand - but we've only got four days of training."
