The Solent Circuit hosted by Lymington Town Sailing Club is a firm favourite in the racing calendar for any keen keel boat racer in the Western Solent and beyond.
This year saw sailors travel down from Hamble to take part, taking advantage of the special berthing offer from the Lymington Yacht Haven. We were very pleased to have seen an increase in the number of entries this year, which is getting back to the pre-pandemic numbers for the first time. This demonstrates the appeal of the Series, and we look forward to more entrants in 2026.
The weather gods also played ball and delivered near perfect weather on each of the 4 weekends that were sailed.
The racing was excellent with Nick Hopwood delivering again as PRO (for the last time!!), he said that last year... A massive thank you to everyone in the race team and house team for all the hard work it is always appreciated by the sailors.
In IRC1 the podium was tight with William Newton's Jelly Baby tied on points with Ray Crough's Team Boomerang in 2n and 3rd. Team Boomerang taking 2nd on count back. This left Andy Robert's Gin & Tonic in 1st and in contention for the overall prize with a net score of 6.
IRC2 was also tight with Andy Hind's White Mischief beating Andy Ash-Vie's Wildcat V for 2nd and 3rd respectively by a single point. However, it was Rory Heron/Dan Snow's Mojitabel who to 1st with a net score of 7.
In the sports boats it was Toby Collyer's Traffic Jam who took the top spot, with Giles Chipperfield's Escape in 2nd and David Herrod & Heather Pashley in Just in Time taking 3rd.
YTC saw Michael Carrington take the honours in Susimi III with an almost perfect score and a net of 5. Matt Perkins took 2nd in Strega and Pat Stables' Google-eye took 3rd.
The Folkboats saw Gybe n' Simon Evans & Cy Grisley take the top step for the 4th year in a succession with a net score of 5 points. Harry Hall's Svane was 2nd and James Walters in Cidron Too took 3rd.
This left the question as to which class would take the overall regatta prize. There were three contenders this year with Andy Roberts' Gin & Tonic with a total of 8 points and 52 races in IRC1, Michael Carrington's Susimi III with 7 points and 47 races in YTC. However, it was Gybe n' Simon Evans & Cy Grisley with 7 points and 48 races sailed in the Folkboats that took the top honours for the overall regatta.

A big thank you to the event sponsor Luxury Property Projects for their support for the regatta but also the refurbishment of the Lower Deck Bar in the LTSC Club house, which will be finished by Xmas.
See you all next season.
