What goes into planning a 100th anniversary? It is truly no small undertaking!

Earlier this month, BROC held its annual Fall meeting at RBYC in Hamilton, highlighting the century-old international partnership that continues to make this hallowed ocean race possible. Face-to-face and virtual collaboration, reporting, and brainstorming built enthusiasm and anticipation for the upcoming anniversary.

"The Bermuda Race is always a spectacular event," said Race Chair Andrew Kallfelz. "We are taking that to another level in 2026 to celebrate 100 years of partnership and camaraderie that really embodies the spirit of yacht racing. At our meeting in Bermuda, every BROC member brought great ideas and enthusiasm to the table that will make this race one that will go down in history."

In addition to the main event of the organization's annual meeting, BROC hosted a meet and greet for business and agency leaders in Bermuda. On both sides of the Gulf Stream, the 100th anniversary is an opportunity to expand the reach and excitement of the sport of sailing to wider audiences. Come June, not just sailors, but also all New Englanders and Bermudians will be able to take in what makes this event so special. "People all over the Island look forward to the Bermuda Race and the social events surrounding it every two years," added Rebecca Roberts, Commodore of RBYC. "This year's meeting proved that everyone involved wants to expand the reach of the race and put the history of this partnership on full display."

With 2025 coming to a close, it's time to start counting down the days to the start of the next Bermuda Race! The fleet is now over 100 strong, consisting of both world-famous yachts and family and community-based teams. Registration fees are set to increase on Friday, December 19—six months ahead of the 2026 race start. If you are still considering registering, the time to sign up is now!
