Enterprise Northern Series unveils 2026 calendar to celebrate 70 Years of iconic dinghy racing.

The legendary 'Cock of the North' Enterprise series returns in 2026 with a thrilling six-event calendar to mark the 70th anniversary of the beloved Enterprise dinghy class.

Sponsored by North Sails and Peak Dinghy Spares, the series promises a dynamic mix of inland and sea racing, regional championships, and a vibrant social scene.

Designed in 1956 by Jack Holt, the Enterprise remains a cornerstone of double-handed dinghy sailing—accessible, competitive, and community-driven. To honour its milestone year, six premier northern clubs will host open events, welcoming seasoned racers, juniors, and newcomers alike.

The season kicks off on the 11-12 April at Scammonden Water Sailing Club, followed by a sea racing warm-up at Tynemouth SC (25-26 April) ahead of the National Championships that is taking place just across the river at South Shields SC in May. June brings an experience day and race day at Ogston SC (13-14 June), while Wigan & St Helens SC hosts the combined Masters and Northern Series event at Scotmans Flash (18-19 July).

The Northern Area Championships headline Bassenthwaite Regatta (8-9 August), with the grand finale at Ripon SC on 3 October.

"The Enterprise offers fun, close racing and a fantastic social atmosphere," said Northern Area rep Matt Rawson. "It's an affordable, welcoming class that keeps sailors coming back."

A spokesperson from North Sails and Peak Dinghy added, "We're proud to support this historic season and look forward to exciting racing and unforgettable moments on the water."

Luke Hartshorn, Northern Area Rep said, "The series is open to all member regions; juniors and amateurs are especially encouraged. We are keen to hear from anyone who wants to get involved."
