Now in its ninth year since the boat show in 2018 announcing the 2017/8 series, the Sailing Southwest Winter series continues to flourish.

With Sailing Club Manager and Admiral Trailers sponsoring again this year the series is announced with nine events planned November - March.

The first event was held as usual at North Devon Yacht Club for the annual Wrecker event, earlier this month. NDYC unusually made the event free for all to enter resulting in a record entry of 37 boats from 16 clubs taking part.

The event was a great success and the club reported financially bar and food more than covered the event costs. This maybe an interesting discussion point for other clubs. The event was a wonderful opener with F4-6 Westerly winds out in the estuary with waves and big tides offering a challenge to all.

Looking forward to future events the Christmas Cracker at Paignton is on Sunday 30th November and Castle Cove Sailing Club are welcomed to the series running an event on Sunday 14th December.

2025 Events:

  • Sunday 2nd November - North Devon YC Wrecker
  • Sunday 30th November - Paignton Christmas Cracker
  • Sunday 14th December - Castle Cove SC

2026 events:

  • Sunday 11th January - Starcross Steamer
  • Sunday 1st February - Sutton Bingham Icicle
  • Sunday 15th February - Roadford Rocket
  • Sunday 1st March - Plymouth Pounder (Hooe Point SC)
  • Sunday 15th March - Porthpean Perisher
  • Sunday 29th March - Wimbleball Beastie

We look forward to seeing Southwest sailors or those from farther afield to as many events as you can make. The series is based on 50% of events run to count rounded up to the nearest whole number.
